Where Has October Gone?

All of a sudden it's October 24th and I do not know where this month has gone.

Quick update on what's happening..

Scott: He is still looking for a job. He's had some great interviews with "Your just what we are looking for in the position, I'll be calling you" and then no call comes.... A friend of mine described looking for a job liking dating - the awkward meetings, the waiting for phone calls, etc. etc. Needless-to-say, the short-term unknown of scheduling has the holiday plans up in the air. As for his torn calf muscle, it seems to be healing up well. He's been biking again and doing a little running.

Me: The economy finally caught up with me. My agency cut everyone back to 4 days a week with a 20% pay cut :-( Having Fridays off is nice, but the loss of income has caused a major trim in our activities. I've been spending my Fridays spending time w/ Scott and going to the girls' school. Not sure what the next steps will be, but I am definitely keeping my eyes opening for opportunities let's just say...

Lily: She must be going through some sort of growth spurt, she's eating like a teenager and seems to have gotten a lot taller. At her yearly check-up she was 48" tall and 48 lbs.

School is going well, after a rough start. It took awhile for Lily (and us) to get used to the new responsibilities that go along w/ being a 2nd grader. However, her first report card was all good marks.

She tried out for a play at Knightdale High School called "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever" and low and behold, she got one of the main roles as Gladys Herdsman. In case you haven't seen the movie/play or read the book, it's about a church Christmas pageant that the local "bad" kids (The Herdsman) decide they want to play the roles of Mary, Joseph, Wiseman and the Angel of the Lord (Lily). The kids cause major chaos, but in the end, it is "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever" (hence the name). I was so worried that Lily would be afraid to get up on stage and that she wouldn't be able to memorize all of the lines. However...surprise - she LOVES acting, hanging out with the high school kids and has already memorized her lines. So, every Saturday between now and December 10th, she has rehearsals from 9a - 4p. That sounds like a long time, but she doesn't even want to leave at 4p because she's having such a good time. The play is Dec 10-12 and since she shares the role with a high school girl, she will probably only get a couple of nights as Gladys. I should know what nights/times she will be on stage for anyone wanting to see the show.

Sidney: She is loving school! Every day she comes home with a ton of stories about what she has learned in school that day. She has a lot of friends and is really coming out of her "shell".
She's starting to read and it's so great to have her read books to me. She's also growing like a weed. At her 5 year check-up she was 42 1/2" tall and 39.8 lbs. It's hard to believe she is 5 already! She seems to be more "sportsy" than her sister and Scott is convinced she will be mountain biking with him before too long.

Need to get Halloween costumes this weekend and prepare for all of fun next Saturday. Lily says she is going to be Gabriella from High School Musical and Sidney wants to be Spiderman (go figure).
